Rezumat/Summary

 Acest volum o surprinde pe Sookie într-o altă ipostază decât până acum. Deși noi ne-am obișnuit ca ea să facă parte dintr-un cuplu sau o echipă, împreună cu iubitul ei, vampirul Bill, de data aceasta ea trebuie să înfrunte lumea supranaturală de una singură sau cu ajutorul unui vârcolac numit Alcide Herveaux. Deoarce Bill, care lucra la un proiect foarte secret despre vampiri, este dat dispărut, șeful sau, Eric, o roagă pe Sookie să acționeze ca un spion într-un district al vampirilor din Mississippi, unde se bănuiește că Bill ar fi ținut prizonier.
 Spre finalul cărții, ea reușește să își salveze iubitul din ghearele celei care l-a tranformat în vampir, Lorena, însă Bill, fiind privat de mâncare și somn, o atacă. Acest lucru o enervează la culme pe Sookie și o determină, în final, să se despartă de el și să le revoce dreptul de-ai intra în casă atât lui cât și lui Eric. În acest moment, ea realizează că proiectul lui Bill se află la ea în casă și nici un vampir nu poate pătrunde înăuntru fără acordul ei.


This book shows us another side of Sookie than the one we got used to. Up to this point, we only got to see Sookie as part of a couple or a team, having her vampire boyfriend, Bill, by her side, but this time she will have to face the supernatural world alone or with the help of Alcide Harveaux, a werewolf with a very jealous girlfriend. Since at the beginning of the book we find out that Bill was working on a super secret project about vampires, and is soon reported to be missing, his boss, Eric, asks Sookie to go to Mississippi and act as a spy for them, in order to find Bill.
By the end of the book she manage to find and save Bill from his former lover and maker, Lorena, but being deprived of food and sleep, he tries to attack her, leaving her very scared and upset, By the end of the book, Sookie breaks up with Bill and rescinds both Bill's and Eric's invitations inside her house. She then realizes that all of Bill's super secret work is stored in her basement and no vampire can enter her house, without her permission.

★★★★★  Binenteles, nici această carte nu primește mai puțin de 5 stele. Povestea se continuă frumos și elementele noi nu sunt deloc deranjante. Personajele sunt foarte frumos conturate și stârnesc curiozitatea cititorilor în privința trecutului lor și a prezenței lor în viața lui Sookie. 

★★★★★ Obviously this book can't get a lower rating than the previous two books from this series. The story goes in nicely and the new elements aren't at all disturbing. The new characters are very well contoured and they made me feel curious about their past and their presence in Sookie's life.

În acest roman, eroii din primul volum al seriei," Morți până la apus", Sookie și Bill, își continuă aventurile printre oameni și vampiri. Astfel, Sookie este rugată de șeful lui Bill, Eric, să participe la o întrunire la Dallas, organizată de vampiri, unde, folosindu-și puterile telepatice, va trebui să găsească informații despre un vampir dispărut.  

Acțiunea de salvare nu decurge prea bine, iar Sookie este înjunghiată cu un țăruș și răpită. 

Tot în acest context aflăm și de Frăția Soarelui, o pseudo-biserică ce dorește să îi extermine pe vampiri, și de alte creaturi supranaturale - menade, vârcolaci și teriantropi - care locuiesc pe Pământ, printre oameni, dar care au legi și reguli proprii. 

In this novel, Sookie and Bill, the heroes from the first book of the series , "Dead until dark", continue their adventures among humans and vampires. Sookie has been asked by Eric, Bill's boss, to participate in a business meeting hosted by vampires, where, using her telepathic powers she should be able to gather information about a missing vampire. 

Throughout the book, Sookie manages to track down the missing vampire, but, due to a series of events, she ends up stabbed with a stake and taken as a hostage. 

In the same context, we find out about the Fellowship of the Sun, an unpleasant anti-vampire pseudo-church and other supernatural creatures - maenades, werewolves and shapeshifters - who live among people on Earth, in their own communities and following their own rules and laws. 

Recenzie/Review

★★★★★  Exact cum m-am așteptat, această carte nu m-a dezamăgit. A fost o lectură foarte interesantă, personajele sunt frumos conturate și au de-a face cu multe situații care îți taie respirația; povestea a fost plină de schimbări de situație și m-a ținut în tensiune până la final. Mi-a plăcut foarte mult. 
În prima postare am uitat să menționez că serialul "True Blood" a fost inspirat din această serie de cărți. (Deși, după părerea mea, cărțile sunt mult mai bune decât serialul, acesta nerespectand, întocmai, povestea.) 

★★★★★ As I expected, this book didn't let me down. It was a very interesting lecture, the characters were well-contoured and faced many breath-taking situations; the story-line was full of twists, keeping me in tension till the end. I enjoyed it very much.
Last time, I forgot to mention that the TV series called  "True Blood", was inspired by these books. (However, in my opinion, the books are way better and the TV series' plot doesn't follow the story.)

Aceasta este prima postare dintr-o suită de recenzii dedicate seriei "Vampirii Sudului", care aparține scriitoarei Charlaine Harris. În acesta postare voi face referire la prima carte din serie, "Morți până la apus".

Rezumat/Summary

 O poveste cu și despre vampiri... și alte creaturi "magice". Eroina acestei povești este Sookie Stackhouse, o tânără de 25 de ani din New Temps, Louisiana, ai cărei părinți au decedat pe când ea și fratele ei erau mici, care lucrează că ospătăriță într-un local și care locuiește împreună cu bunica sa. O persoană banală la prima vedere (citire), însă, ea este înzestrată cu o calitate deosebită - telepatia. Acest "dar" obișnuia să o bage des în bucluc în tinerețe, dar acum ea reușește să blocheze cât de cât gândurile altor persoane și chiar să ajute poliția locală să găsească infractori, folosindu-l.  

 Pe de altă parte, dincolo de granițele orășelului în care locuiește Sookie, viața oamenilor nu e atât de liniștită. Japonezii au inventat sângele artificial, astfel că vampirii pot circula liberi printre cei vii, nemaifiind nevoiți să se ascundă și să se hrănească din ei. Însă acest lucru generează numeroase conflicte "inter-rasiale".  

 Curând după ce incidență acestor conflicte a crescut, în New Temps se stabilește un vampir, Bill Compton, de care Sookie se simte imediat atrasă. La scurt timp se dovedește că atracția dintre cei doi e reciprocă, iar ei au o frumoasă poveste de dragoste împreună, presărată cu mici intrigi și întâmplări "la limită" care îi apropie. 

This is a story about vampires... and other magical creatures. The main character of the story is Sookie Stackhouse, a 25 year old woman from New Temps, Louisiana, whose parents have died when she and her brother were little, that works as a waitress in a diner and lives with her grandmother. She seems rather plain at first sight (lecture), but, actually, she has a very uncommon quality - she is a telepathic person. This "gift" has been a real burden for her throughout the years but she has learned to cope with it, managing to block other people's thoughts at work and even help the police solve cases.

On the other hand, outside the borders of the small town where Sookie lives, people's lives aren't that quiet. The Japanese have invented synthetic blood so now vampires can live among the normal/alive people, not needing to hide from them or drink their blood anymore. But, this thing generates numerous interracial conflicts between  humans and vampires.

Soon after the number of conflicts has raised, a vampire, Bill Compton, arrives in New Temps. Sookie is very attracted to him from the moment he enters the diner, during her shift, and in a short period of time they form a couple and live a beautiful love story, "seasoned" with numerous cabals and adventures. 

Recenzie/Review

★★★★★ Poate vi se pare că dau prea ușor 5 stele cărților, însă acest roman face parte din categoria cărților pe care le îndrăgesc cel mai tare. Nu pot spune că e o lectură grea, ba chiar din contră, însă modul în care Sookie își povestește viața (narațiunea are loc la persoana I) m-a captivat. Acesta este volumul meu preferat din seria "Vampirii sudului", probabil și pentru că e cel mai simplu, mai lipsit de intrigi și în care Sookie da dovadă de mai multă sensibilitate. Personajele sunt conturate frumos, descrise pe îndelete, astfel că ți le poți imagina ușor, iar locațiile unde se desfășoară acțiunea sunt bine determinate. Eu detest descrierile lungi, în special cele referitoare la natură, dar nu veți întâlni asemenea descrieri în acesta carte, Mi-a fost foarte ușor să îmi imaginez totul și să mă las purtată de pagini în lumea lui Sookie și a lui Bill.  
 Nu recomand cartea celor prea pudici deoarece conține câteva scene mai... explicite.  

★★★★★ Maybe you think that I give out 5 stars too easily, but this novel is one of the books I love the most. I can't say it's hard to read, on the contrary, but the way Sookie tells her story (the narration is first person) captivated me. This is my favorite volume from the series, "The Southern Vampire Mysteries", maybe because of the simplicity of the action, or because Sookie is more sensible and more caring. The characters are very beautifully described, really easy to imagine and so are the locations where the action takes place. I hate long descriptions, especially about nature, and you won't find such things in this book. It was very easy for me to imagine everything and let myself captivated by the Sookie and Bill's story. 
I don't recommend this book to chaste persons because it contains some scenes that can be described as... explicit.
